(Who Ever Said We Were) Friends

(Daniel Dworsky)
One of the great things about misery is that it yields award winning material. So Lillianna Kipervas where ever you are now, Thank You for breaking my 16 year old heart and for the Sound Makers Top Ten Award.
In actuality I walked her to the bus station not: "I drove you to the airport" The words were written first "I Walked you to the station" but I couldn't get that past the band. Fascinating I'm sure.
Who was that: Dancing past midnight; Bathing in the moonlight.
Who hardly noticed when it was raining?
It seemed so very clear.
Now I don't know what's happening here.
I just feel foolish complaining.

I drove you to the airport.
Waving through the window I think,
There goes the last bit of sweetness from my life.
It'd been a while since the last time.
It'll be a while until the next time that wind blows.
It's been a while since the last time I cried.

You might have found a way to tell me.
You might have given me time to understand.
You might have found a way to tell me.
So. Tell me.
Who ever said we were friends?

Sweet as the first time precious as the last.
For a while you had me laughing at my sorrows.
But they're right here,
For every time I held you.
Right here, For every kiss.
Could you have stayed a little longer,
'Given this a try.

There's so much I wish I told you.
There's so much I need to share.
I know that nothing lasts forever.
But it's been forever and I can't get past there.

You might have found a way to tell me.
You might have given me time to understand.
So. Tell me.
Who ever said we were friends?
You might have found a way to tell me.
So. Tell me.
Who ever said we were friends?
